The 'Acid Throwing and Burn Crime Bill, 2012' and 'The Census (Amendment) Bill, 2012' were introduced in the National Assembly on Tuesday, a private members' day. Dr Attiya Inayatullah of Pakistan Muslim League-Q introduced the bill on acid throwing and Yasmeen Rehman introduced the Census bill. Highlighting the surge in incidents of acid throwing every year.

'The Acid Throwing and Burn Crime Bill, 2012,' "will result in an effective deterrent for the perpetrators, besides (enabling) victims accessing and obtaining justice, availing free medical and psycho-social rehabilitation services". "It is imperative to redress a crime, which constitutes one of the most heinous violations of human rights. We need to ensure the protection and dignified life of Pakistan citizens within the sprit of international conventions signed and ratified by the Pakistani state. These include UDHR, CEDAW, CRC and ICCPR."

"These efforts will address the crime in an effective manner and are fully in accordance with the principles of the Constitution of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, 1973." Similarly, according to 'The Census (Amendment) Bill, 2012' amendments were proposed in the Census Ordinance of 1959 so that proper planning could be made in all sectors.
