It is heartening to learn that the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry is holding its 36th Export Awards Ceremony for the year 2011-2012, for the Best Exporters of the country. This tradition of the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry will go a long way in promoting healthy competition among the exporters besides improving the quality of exports.

Globally, with the implementation of WTO, all the developed nations demanded the compliance standards of all goods and services. Many of our exports are rejected due to non- compliance with international standards. I expect that exports award ceremonies encourage the exporters to increase their exports through searching new potential markets where demand of their products can be created. I hope that such ceremonies would ultimately become an agent for change and best of the best would emerge on the horizon. Being the Chief Minister of a region which is lacking in industry, I would stress upon the major exporters to look for exporting those products which are manufactured in labour-intensive industries, so that job opportunities may be provided to the poor.

Similarly, the FPCCI should also focus on the export of minerals of the country which are in abundance in FATA. The marble of the area among the best in the world, and could thus become one of the important products for export. We would, therefore, want the investors to develop linkages and work with the people of the area both for the expansion of their trade and well-being of the local populace. Lastly, I would like to congratulate the organise of the event for their devotion and hard work.
