At least 18 tribesmen killed and 40 others injured in a powerful remote control car bomb blast in Jamrud, Khyber Agency on Monday. The explosive device planted in a car parked in main Jamrud bazaar exploded with huge bang, killing at least 18 people mostly youngsters and wounded 40 others who were rushed to Jamrud Hospital while the critical were shifted to Hayatabad Medical Complex, Peshawar.

The explosion occurred in the congested Jamrud bazaar jam packed with the people. The explosion brought havoc in the area as several shops were collapsed and 12 vehicles were destroyed while windowpanes of nearby houses were smashed.

The administrative head of the agency, Mutahir Zaib Khan told reporters at the site of the blast that the explosion might be the result of successful security forces operation against militants in parts of Khyber Agency. The Khasadar Force rushed to the spot and shifted the injured to Peshawar Hospital besides conducting rescue activities. The forces sealed the area in a bid to trace out the culprits involved in the blast. The identity of victims could not be immediately ascertained.
