Provincial Minister for Labour Haji Ehsanuddin Qureshi said that flats are being given to the labourers on ownership basis for the first time in the history of the country. He said that Punjab government is taking all possible steps for improving the socio-economic condition of the labourers and required funds have been provided for timely completion of the ongoing projects under Labour Department.

He said that 2,000 residential units will be constructed during current fiscal year in Sialkot, Gujranwala and Multan. While talking to delegations of labourers, Ehsanuddin Qureshi on Sunday averred that government will provide state-of-the-art health care facilities to the labourers and labour department will spend Rs 4.31 billion for the provision of state-of-the-art healthcare facilities to the labourers and their families during current fiscal year. He said that new social security hospitals will be set up and existing hospitals would be updated. He told that during current financial year a new social security hospital will be established at Sheikhupura where modern facilities and medical equipment will be provided. He said that the social security is introducing hospital management information system costing rupees 107 million, the scheme would be introduced at the dispensary level in phases.

Ehsanuddin Qureshi said that a labour colony consisting of 1,296 flats costing more than Rs 2,177 million on 47 acre land has been constructed on Defence Road Lahore for labourers.
