The operation against the terrorists involved in attack on Peshawar Airport and PAF base culminated on Sunday with the killing of the remaining five militants who had taken refuge in an under-construction building in Pawoka village, situated adjacent to the Airport. A police cop, identified as Sarir Khan, was also martyred and two others injured in the hours long skirmish between the security forces and the militants.

According to sources, three of the terrorists were killed in an exchange of firing with the security forces while the remaining two exploded themselves when the security forces besieged them.

Giving details, the sources said that the Peshawar Police had on Sunday morning received a tip off regarding the presence of the remaining terrorists in an under-construction house in Pawoka village. Huge contingent of police and military men reached the area and made an attempt to enter into the house. But, one police personnel died and two others sustained injuries when the militants opened fire. The security forces retaliated with heavy firing and lobbed hand grenades, which resulted in the killing of three terrorists while the remaining two resisted for several hours and when the forces were closing in they blew themselves up and died on the spot.
