The court stated that Altaf Hussain used hostile and humiliating language against judges of the superior judiciary during his recent public address, adding that this act "comes under the category of contempt of court".
On December 14, a three-member bench of the Supreme Court, led by Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chauhdry, issued a contempt of court notice to Altaf Hussain and ordered him to appear personally before the apex court on January 7 and submit a reply.
