Ukraine's grain exports totalled 13.0 million tonnes as of December 14 and are likely to reach 14.3 million tonnes in the coming weeks, Ukraine's Agriculture Ministry said on Friday. The ministry said in a statement the volume included 5.65 million tonnes of wheat, 5.46 million tonnes of maize and 1.76 million tonnes of barley.

It gave no comparative figures. The ministry said additional 1.3 million tonnes of grain, including 190,000 tonnes of wheat, were likely to be exported in the near future. In November, Ukraine exported 1.42 million tonnes of wheat, 1.67 million tonnes of maize and 227,100 tonnes of barley. Ministry officials said this month they hoped grain traders would voluntarily suspend wheat exports until next spring after exceeding the previously agreed export cap of 5.5 million tonnes. Grain lobby UAC said this week exports of wheat had indeed almost stopped this month.
