A minority leader of PML-N from District Kohat, Pir Naseeb Chand along with other colleagues announced to join Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) here on Friday. He made announcement during a press conference at Peshawar Press Club, wherein PPP Senior Vice President, Azam Khan Afridi and a member of PPP-Women Wing, MPA Nighat Orakzai along with provincial leaders were present.

Speaking on the occasion, Chand hailing from Sikh Community, served a General Secretary in PML-N from Kohat, said that the ruling PPP government had taken practical steps for provision of rights to minorities in the province. He further said that special seats quota for minority in Parliament and provincial legislative assemblies, was increased by the PPP government, which is a welcoming step. He claimed that a large number of minority workers affiliated with different political parties would join PPP soon belonging to Hangu and D.I. Khan. Azam Afridi, while welcoming him along with his colleagues said that the PPP government had the credit to increase minorities' seats in National Assembly from ten to 14, while in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Bolachistan Assemblies increased from three to four.

Similarly, he informed in Punjab Assembly, the minority seats had also been increased from eight to 10, while in Sindh Assembly nine to 12. He said that government was believed to provide equally opportunities to minorities as number of steps are being taken in this regard. He viewed that the leaders of other political parties have joined PPP because of its greater performance during last four and half years. He said PPP government had taken practical steps for provision of maximum relief to downtrodden segment of the society.

"PPP will re-elect by gaining overwhelming victory in next general elections", Afridi claimed. He expressed the hope that the party would be strengthened after joining of leaders and workers from different political parties in the province. He claimed that a large number of stalwarts from other Political parties would join PPP in next month, including members of minority community.
