Sharing his thoughts with Saima Zuberi, the PML-N leader said that the IFC Dispute Resolution Center would help facilitate the businessmen for the settlement of their cases through mediation as litigation is lengthy and costly process. He said that it is a landmark project, not only in the Pakistan but in the South Asia. He said that the establishment of international standard mediation centers in Pakistan would not only improve investment climate in the country but it would also send a very positive signal abroad. He said that a large number of foreign investors could not put their money in Pakistan only because of absence of an institutionalised mediation mechanism. He said that such a mediation mechanism was need of the hour and is a big success of the private sector.
Pervaiz Malik said the IFC officer that Chief Minister Punjab Shahbaz Sharif is making untiring efforts to create a business friendly atmosphere in the province and to promote trade and economic activities in Punjab. He said that Chief Minister Punjab has announced various incentives to attract the Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) in the province.
He said that a large number of mega projects including Lahore Metro Bus System, Danish Schools, Ashiana Housing Scheme, Punjab Youth Internship Program, Lahore Waste Management Company and Punjab Model of Proactive Governance are enough to prove that Shahbaz Sharif want to turn Punjab into the hub of trade, industry and investment.
The IFC Associate Operations Officer Saima Zuberi informed the PML-N leader that the Mediation Center would work as per international standards. Saima Zuberi said that offering Mediation as an institutionalised alternative dispute resolution (ADR) mechanism. This option is available to the parties whose commercial cases are either pending before any court/judicial forum, or who have not yet filed a case in the Court, she added.
