The Punjab government on Friday approved six development schemes worth over Rs 2 billion in various sectors of economy including health, agriculture, soil conservation and irrigation. These schemes were approved in the 24th meeting of Provincial Development Working Party of current financial year 2012-13 presided over by the Punjab Planning and Development Board Chairman, Javaid Aslam.

Acting Secretary Planning & Development Punjab Bushra Aman, members of the Planning & Development Board and other senior representatives of the relevant Provincial Departments also attended the meeting.

The approved schemes include:

(a) Up-gradation of DHQ Hospital Chiniot with an estimated cost of Rs 593.684 million.

(b) Construction of new Agricultural Offices Complex, at Murree Road, and Soil Conservation, Agricultural Engineering Workshops and Offices at Adyala Road, Rawalpindi at the cost of Rs 464.862 million.

(c) Establishment of THQ-Hospital, Darya Khan, District Bhakkar (Amended) at the cost of Rs 259.418 million.

(d) Widening and Improvement of road from Noorpur Thal to Kaka and Jaura Kalan length 34.00 km in District Khushab at the cost of Rs 282.518 million.

(e) Correcting approach of River Chenab to control Erosive action along its Right Bank opposite RD: 0+000 Muzaffargarh Flood Bund to RD: 131+500 Khangarh Flood Bund in District Muzaffargarh (Revised) at the cost of Rs 433.86 million and (f) Metro Bus Transit System for Lahore-Ferozepur Road Corridor Construction of MBS from Niazi Interchange to Shahdara Mor length=3.0 km (Package-VI) (Revised) at the cost of Rs 11.790 million.
