At least six persons including a political worker were killed and four others sustained bullet injuries in separate incidents in the metropolis here on Tuesday. According to police and rescue sources, a man, identified as Ali Abbas, 30, son of Ali Muhammad, was gunned down at Ahmad Shah Bukhari road in the limits of Kalri police station.

SHO Jan Khan Niazi said the deceased, who was shifted to Civil Hospital Karachi (CHK), was the resident of Golimar area and added that he was a rickshaw driver. He said his father in his statement to police revealed that they had personal enmity in Kala Daka area and his son might have been killed by his opponents. He said a case, 275/12, was registered but nobody has so far been nominated.

Another man, Nadeem Abbasi, was shot dead at Jamsheed Quarters no 2 in the limits of Jamsheed Quarters police station. Police said unidentified armed men targeted the man when he was busy in playing carom. They said the deceased was said to be the worker of Muttahida Qaumi Movement and associated with unit 56. The body was shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital (ASH) for legal formalities and later handed over to the heirs.

A man, Akaash, 25, son of Shaam Lal, was killed in similar manner at Dhobi Ghat area in the limits of Pak colony police station. Police said the victim might have been murdered over personal ground. No case was registered till filing of this report.

In another firing incident, two persons were killed while two others sustained injuries in New Karachi sector 5-D in the limits of Bilal colony police station. SHO Mohsin Ali said the victims, identified as Aslam Qaimkhani, son of Wali Muhammad, Nadeem, son of Haji Safdar, Furqan, son of Rafiq, and Najam were targeted near Allah Wali Chowrangi. He said Nadeem died on spot while Aslam succumbed to his injuries during treatment.

He said the eyewitnesses in their statements stated that unknown armed men opened fire when the victim Aslam, who was the resident of sector 5-J New Karachi, offered resistance to a robbery bid. Further investigation was underway to ascertain the facts, he maintained. No case was registered till filing of this report. Another man namely Zahid lost his life in a firing incident at Z-2 bus stand located in Orangi Town.
