The bench expressed dissatisfaction over NAB report pertaining to the arrest of Tauqir Sadiq. During the course of hearing, Waqas Ahmed Khan, an investigating officer and Deputy Prosecutor General NAB Fauzi Zafar told the bench that efforts to arrest Tauqir were under way. The court was informed that the NAB came to know that Tauqir was travelling on the motorway. However due to non-co-operation from the Punjab and Motorway Police, he could not be arrested.
Fauzi Zafar apprised the bench that a Chairman NAB and probing officer were both receiving threats while investigating. To which, Justice Jawwad S Khawaja queried why a report was not lodged against those issuing threats. He directed the probing officer to submit to bench the details of difficulties that he encountered in arresting Taquir Sadiq. Justice Jawwad S Khawaja observed that anyone threatening a public officer could be punished up to 10 years in prison and directed the NAB to take action against those behind threats. The bench adjourned the hearing till December 19.
