He said that the high ups of Capital police on December 4, received complaints against ASI Muhammad Idress, Head Constable Muhammad Ghalib, Constables Bakht Zada, Safdar from Sabzi Mandi police station and Head Constable Elahi Bux, Constables Habib Ullah, Riaz, Rehmat Ullah from Industrial area police station of getting bribe at the police pickets located in their respective limits.
The official said that following these complaints, an enquiry team was constituted headed by DIG Headquarters Sultan Azam Temuri. The DIG has recorded statements of all policemen and found them guilty of corrupt practices. He ordered termination of these policemen, he said.
He said that DIG Headquarters, Sultan Azam Temuri while addressing a meeting said that Islamabad police have started an accountability system within the department to monitor performance of the police officials and those involved in negligence of duties, poor investigation, absence and corruption would not be spared. Temuri said that accountability system helps in improving the performance of any department and working of the staff can be easily judged through it. Such accountability system would continue in future and those performing well would be encouraged, he said.
