A driver of an exchange company was killed here on Monday by robbers during unsuccessful bid to loot cash van of a money exchange company in the limits of Aziz Bhatti police station. According to police, some eight alleged armed robbers intercepted a cash van of a money exchange company at main university road in the limits of PIB colony police station.

Meanwhile, the driver of the van tried to escape from the scene. But one of the bandits fired multiple shots on the driver, killing him on the spot. The suspected bandits after several attempts failed to open the door of the van. Later, they managed to flee with empty hands before police arrival.

The body of the driver, who was identified as Anwar Jan son of Barkat Ali, was moved to JPMC for legal formalities. DSP Nasir Lodhi said the cash van was carrying cash from Saddar to one of the money exchange companies at main University road. The deceased, who was the resident of F.B area, Block 15, hailed from Punjab.
