Ameer, Jamaat-e-Islami, Pakistan, Syed Munawwar Hasan has condemned the Foreign Office statement regarding the London Police raid on the business address of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) leader Altaf Husain, terming it most shameful.

Syed Munawwar Hasan said that the London police raid in connection with Dr Imran Farooq's murder was purely professional and non-political, and the Foreign Office was not required to issue any explanation in this regard.

He said the FO statement clearly showed that the government was a hostage in the hands of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) and was making every effort to please, even flatter it. That was why the MQM had been blackmailing the government for the acceptance of its unlawful demands.

The rulers were being blackmailed and the Federal Interior Minister had been time and again meeting Altaf Husain in London and tendering apology to him.

The JI Ameer said that the probe into the murder of Dr Imran Farooq was clearly leading to the residence of Altaf Husaain, and the London Police was tightening its noose around him. As a result, the MQM was pressurising the federal government to exercise its influence to save Altaf Husain and the Foreign Office statement was linked with that.

He said that the MQM had always been committing crimes under the government umbrella. Therefore, he said, the government was equally responsible for the target killings in Karachi as the MQM was continuing shedding the blood of innocent people.
