Addressing the press conference after concluding PPP Hyderabad Division workers' meeting he said that during this PPP government we already have launched 3 coal based projects for generating electricity to overcome energy crises, now a British company has expressed its interest to produce the diesel from coal reserves.
He said that by virtue of services to the people, PPP would enjoy its next tenure with the support of people and to complete these projects.
The Sindh Chief Minister said that the PPP would hold a big public gathering on 27th December, 2012 at Garhi Khuda Bux on the eve of 5th death anniversary of Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto to pay rich tributes on her services and sacrifices that she rendered for the cause of democracy and to protect the rights of farmers, libourers, journalists and legal fraternity. He said that this gathering would be more important because the Chairman PPP Bilawal Bhutto Zardari would address the public meeting in Sindhi and Urdu and also to chalk out future study of PPP.
About the law and order situation in Karachi, the Sindh Chief Minister said that there were multidimensional reasons for target killing. He said that the major reason was land grabbing and this reason came on surfaced when the Revenue department was made under the control of local government system introduced in 2001 by last regime. He said that this system had jeopardised whole revenue system under which influential/criminal elements occupied thousands acres of land illegally in Karachi. Furthermore, the land record got burned to remove evidences. He said that in addition to that up to 2 million foreigners had been settled illegally in Karachi with the facility of previous regime.
He said that when we came into power there were 85 kidnapping cases in Sindh but now only 3 such cases so far have been reported. He said that now more 15,000 police personnel have been inducted in Sindh Police Force whereas training and sophisticated weapons were also being provided to them to meet the situation with success. He said that today Sindh police was playing its role with responsibility as such considerable arms and ammunition was seized by police in Karachi which was supposed to be used on 10th Muharram-ul-Haram for terrorism. He said that many terrorists have been apprehended.
About delimitation before general election, the Sindh Chief Minister said that since this matter pertains to Election Commission of Pakistan which was in better position to take the action or tell the time-frame. However, he made it clear that PPP wants to hold general elections on its schedule. The Sindh Chief Minister while lauding the services of Journalists for restoration of democracy, announced Rs 1.2 million as special grant for Press Club Hyderabad.
