He expressed these views while addressing Divisional Directors of Public Relation Department. Additional Secretary Information and Culture Syed Tahir Raza Hamdani also attended the meeting. Ather Ali Khan said that public relations officers should ensure the publicity of public welfare projects on print and electronic media by acting as bridge between the media and the government. He said that people should be informed about the welfare projects of Punjab government costing billions of rupees by benefiting from modern technology.
He further said that the responsibilities of public relations officers have been increased manifold during democratic government as due to close liaison between media and the government, the confidence of the people enhances in the government institutions which strengthens democracy. He said that it is the responsibility of all government departments to launch and complete development and welfare-oriented projects whereas public relations department has to inform the people about these projects through their publicity.
