The Lahore Chamber of Commerce & Industry (LCCI) President Irfan Iqbal Sheikh has urged the government to focus on Information Technology based knowledge as maximum utilisation of human potential is necessary to make Pakistan a developed country.

While addressing the participants of "LCCI Web Graphic Skill Course with SEO" here at the LCCI on Friday, Irfan said, "Right out of the gate of their Alma Mater, our students face altogether new challenges, therefore, they must be equipped well to cope with these challenges."

He said curriculum needs to be designed in proper consultation with the private sector that has both the ability and capacity to guide the educationists in right direction. He said that in today's world the IT is of utmost importance. In the job market the people having knowledge of computers are given preference over those who are without it, he added.

He said that the only objective behind starting computer courses at LCCI is to equip members with latest business technologies so that they could be able to go global. The LCCI Senior Vice President Irfan Iqbal Sheikh said in the knowledge race in the 21st century and rapid globalisation, the quality of information technology based higher education needs to be enhanced to bring it at par with international standards for the sake of progress and prosperity.
