Pakistan's Muhammad Asif becomes the second cueist in the history to capture IBSF World Snooker Championship in Sofia (Bulgaria) when he overpowered England's Gary Wilson 10-8 in a thrilling final on Sunday night. Spectacular Asif is the second Pakistani player to win the world amateur crown after Muhammad Yousuf who won the title in South Africa in 1994.

Another Pakistani Saleh Muhammad also reached the final in China in 2003 but lost to India's Pankaj Advani. 30-year-old Asif from Faisalabad featuring in his second world championship brought the biggest title for the country after Pakistan's ICC World T20 triumph in England in 2010.

Lanky two-time National Champion Asif, who reached the final of Dubai International ahead of the world championship, showed nerves of steel to topple veteran professional Gary Wilson in the match lasting over nine hours.
