Jamaate Islami Ameer Syed Munawar Hassan has said that President Zardari claim that the PPP and its allies had done more service and less politics, the government was ridiculous and made a serious joke with the nation and the country.

Talking to different delegations at Mansoora on Saturday, he said that President Zardari and his coterie had plundered billions out of the national exchequer, used the Presidency as a political arena, and made life difficult for the masses due to price hike and lawlessness. If this was the service to the masses, one wondered how enmity could be defined, he asked.

In fact, he said President Zardari was making futile effort to befool the masses through such claims. He was sure that Zardari's rule would have been written in the history as the darkest and the worst period. Continuing, the JI Ameer said that Zardari's rule had witnessed the government's continuous confrontation with the judiciary. The unanimous resolutions of the parliament were thrown into the dustbin and the country remained a US slave throughout the period as Zardari and his allies faithfully served the US agenda in the region, in clear disregard to the vital national interests.

The JI Ameer said the worst form of dictatorship prevailed in the country in the name of democracy and the country had to suffer load shedding, unprecedented price hike of POL, electricity tariff. In Karachi, he said, the PPP, the MQM and the ANP had continued extortion and target killings, putting the blame on one another. He said that in spite of the PPP's majority in the Sindh assembly, Zardari inducted the MQM as an ally so as to escape its terrorism and black mailing. The people of Sindh were left at the mercy of the terrorists.

The leading business and industrialists had left Karachi due to extortion and law and order situations, the economy of the mega city had been ruined. He further said the MQM's highhandedness had been come to fore by the registration of more than 600 voters in a two marla house. This showed how the MQM had pressurised the administration and the police during the preparation of electoral lists to achieve the results of its liking.

He said the MQM's hue and cry over the preparation of new electoral lists and constituencies showed how far it could go in hiding its crimes and obstructing the fair, free and transparent elections. Munawar Hassan said that the MQM's opposition to the cleansing Karachi of arms, checking of voters lists was an attempt to obstruct the exposure of its crimes. He stressed upon the Election Commission to carry on the preparation of new electoral lists and fresh constituencies under the Supreme Court's orders without any pressure.
