Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Barrister Masood Kausar on Saturday said that government has restored peace in the province and Fata and normalcy is taking place successfully, but at the cost of tremendous sacrifices offered both by the security forces and the common people.

He was talking to four-member delegation of International Development Committee of UK Parliament, comprising Richard Burden, Chris White, Hugh Bayley and Pauline Latham who called on KP Governor Barrister Masood Kausar at KP House on Saturday. The distinguished guests remained with the Governor for some time and discussed matters of mutual interest with special reference to the role and contribution of DFID in socio-economic development of the people of the province as well as Fata and prospects for its future services in this respect.

Talking on a point, the Governor said, though the people of Fata had been enjoying representation in the Senate and the National Assembly since long yet for the first time in the history of Fata, they would get the choice to elect their representatives for both the Upper Houses from the platform of political parties which indeed would be a one of the major achievement of the government.

The political reforms in Fata, he added, was in fact a comprehensive process which was inter-linked to institutional development both from administrative and judicial point of view with the basic aim to protect the basic rights of the respective people, and the civic society especially the political particles are being taken along through consensus based consultation process.

Referring to another point, the Governor also highlighted the various aspects of militancy oriented problems in Fata and pointed out that there was also the need to judge the factors in true perspectives. He also highly eulogised the contribution of DFID in supplementing the ongoing efforts of the government for socio-economic uplift of the people especially through promotion of educational and health care activities and said a well-knitted implementation and monitoring mechanism had been placed in Fata which also was being directly overviewed by himself personally especially through the Governor's Inspection Team.

He also mentioned the UK's contribution from the platform of Multi-donors Development Fund through which highly useful development activities were in progress in Bajaur and Momand agencies of Fata as well, besides the province. Since, he added, 60 to 65 percent population of Fata comprised youth and there was a need to further expand its services for strengthening of educational and training facilities for their skill development in Fata.
