They said the political leaders should refrain from making the construction of Kala Bagh Dam a political issue or provincial issue and should demonstrate political maturity in this regard and think about the future generation. Due to the energy crisis not only the industrial sector but also domestic consumer are confronting with multifarious problems across the country, they said. The prolonged load shedding, they said, is also generating certain social evils, unemployment and law-and-order problems while daily wagers are facing serious economic problems and productivity is at lowest ebb.
Expressing his viewpoint President Sialkot Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) Sheikh Abdul Majid on Saturday said that construction of dams including Kala Bagh Dam have become imperative at this critical juncture when country is facing acute shortage of electricity as a result of which the industrial sector is facing six hours' load shedding and duration of load shedding will jump to 10 hours daily in December. Under the prevailing situation the construction of Kala Bagh Dam has become vital for overcoming the water and energy crises adding that the construction of dam will help in producing inexpensive electricity in the country, Sheikh Majid said.
