Former foreign minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi on Sunday announced to join Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf during a mammoth public meeting here. "I am now member of Imran Khan's team," Qureshi announced when Imran Khan during his speech invited him to join his party.

Qureshi said that people were asking him about his future political plans after his resignation from the Pakistan People's Party. "I didn't want to take any decision in haste. I had 30-years' long association with PPP, and had to decide future plans in the best interest of the nation and the country. I had to decide to be a silent spectator or come forward and join the struggle for saving the country, which is passing through a crucial phase of its history," he said.

"Finally, I decided to join PTI, which is striving for a better future of the country and the nation." Shah Mehmood Qureshi dubbed President Zardari as a 'threat' to the nuclear assets of country, saying that the nuclear programme was not safe under his rule.

"In PTI's Karachi public meeting on December 25 I will disclose how Zardari is threat to our nuclear programme. I know the facts being the former Foreign Minister," he claimed. Shah Mehmood Qureshi, who has large number of followers in Sindh, asked the participants of the public meeting to spread his message across the province to attend the Karachi public meeting at Quaid's mausoleum on December 25 wearing Sindhi caps and Ajraks. "Sindh is the land of Sindhi and not the others. All Sindhis including Urdu speaking Sindhis, Pashtoons and other nationalities settled in Sindh would participate in the Karachi public meeting," he added.

The former foreign minister said that the convoy that started from Multan would go all the way to topple the 'Firown' in Islamabad. He said that the all eyes were towards Imran Khan because the nation was in search of a leader to lead the country to progress and prosperity.

Earlier, PTI chief Imran Khan while addressing the public meeting invited Shah Mehmood Qureshi to join his party. Imran Khan criticised the present government and condemning the Nato aggression, called for reviewing the foreign and domestic policies of the country. Government should review relations with US, he said and called for making Pakistan a truly sovereign country.
