Three armed men riding a motorbike intercepted their van and asked the driver to stop as soon as the team reached the traffic signal at Airport Chowk. The attackers fired three gun shots at the van when the driver refused to stop the vehicle. Luckily no one was hurt.
Two police cops, who were on duty around the spot, arrested one of the attackers, Hashim, a resident of Rawalpindi, while his accomplices managed to make good their escape. He was taken to a police station. Later, police registered an FIR against the attackers under section 324 of PPC.
Meanwhile, Federal Information and Broadcasting Minister Sherry Rehman while condemning the incident announced that the matter would be investigated thoroughly.
