Former Member National Assembly and Jamat-e-Islami chief in Islamabad Mian Mohammad Aslam was accused by his rival candidate of being partner of the poultry company which was fined by Supreme Court of Pakistan for supplying poultry feed containing pork meat.

At a press conference here on Wednesday, Azeem Chaudhry a rival candidate of National Assembly seat NA-48 Islamabad demanded of the Election Commission to disqualify Mian Aslam from contesting the elections as he was involved in anti-Islamic activity.

He said that the former MNA Mian Mohammad Aslam is a co-partner of Sadiq Brothers, the largest poultry company, which had earlier confessed before the seven-member bench of the Supreme Court that it was supplying poultry feed containing pork meat.

He opined that CBR had seized a container of poultry feed (mixed with pork meat) at Karachi Port in 2006. After testing the feed at different laboratories, it was found that the feed was mixed with pork meat on which the former Chief Justice of Pakistan took suo moto notice. He said that the company was fined Rs 10,000 in December 2006 on the confession of the owners and one of the owners is Mian Aslam who also paid the fine amount.

Chaudhry contended that a person who claims to be associated with a pro-Islamic party is involved in such prohibited business, how is contesting election for the National Assembly.

He said that pork meat is prohibited under Islamic rules as well as Constitution of Pakistan and how a person could be eligible for contesting the elections if he is involved in such an anti-Islamic activity. Chaudhry is determined to move the Election Tribunal against him and urged the Election Commission of Pakistan to ban Mian Aslam from contesting the elections.

He also asked Ulema and leadership of Jamaat-e-Islami to take notice of the un-Islamic activity of Mian Aslam, as he committed a sin by supplying such prohibited material to market.
