Pakistan International Airlines Chairman and CEO Tariq Kirmani has resigned from his post, Aaj TV reported on Monday. Defence Ministry sources while confirming Kirmani's resignation reports said that the defence secretary has received his resignation.

According to the report the competent authorities have not yet taken any decision on his resignation. High fuel cost, financial deficit of PIA and European Union's restrictions on the national carrier have been cited as major reasons behind Kirmani's resignation.
