Governor Sindh Ishrat-ul-Ibad would distribute the allotment letters to the affectees of Mehran City on Thursday. The allottees of the plots and bungalows in the 13 years old Mehran City would get the possession of their booked units with the efforts of National Accountability Bureau (NAB) in a ceremony at Bagh-e-Jinnah (old Polo Ground).

The Governor Sindh will be the chief guest on the occasion. It may be mentioned that this project was launched by the 'Tasman Construction Company' in 1993.

In a statement issued here on Wednesday by the NAB says, the project envisaged the construction of 2443 bungalows of various categories on 102.11 acres of land situated in survey No 63-75 in Deh Halkani, Manghopir, KDA Scheme-43.

According to the details, the builder booked all the houses during period 1993-95 and a huge amount was collected during 1993 to 2003. However, the builder did not complete the project within a period of 30 months, as per terms and conditions of the agreement. The project was abandoned and neither houses were given not money was refunded to allottees.

On various complaints, an investigation was authorised by the NAB Sindh and all efforts were made to safeguard the interest of allottees and resultantly a settlement/pleas bargain has been approved by the Chairman NAB and the Accountability Court.-PR
