Sindh Irrigation and Power Department on Saturday said that the Left Bank Outfall Drain (LBOD) system was remained under heavy pressure of the flood. Over topping/breaches were reported in some drains of the system. Along LBOD the flow level was high with no free board. Flow had become steady with no further rise in pressure, the department said.

The River Indus was flowing in medium flood at Kotri Barrage at 6:00 am while the river was flowing in low flood at Guddu and Sukkur. The bund situation on the both sides of the river was reported safe and intact.

According to the department the River Indus discharge upstream at Guddu Barrage was 255,723 cusecs, at Sukkur Barrage 237,160 cusecs and at Kotri Barrage 369,129 cusecs while downstream discharge was 233,165, 200,135 and 356,516 cusecs, respectively.

NNI ADDS: Sea bore has been pushing back river flow in district Thatta at Kharo Chan, which has resulted in submerging the Kutcha areas and a big stream of water is passing through Sajjawal Bridge.

Water discharge from this area was recorded at 360,000 cusecs on Saturday. So far, water level has reached to 29 feet, which is 7 feet below the danger mark. Areas near Surjani Bund have been submerged causing big loss to standing crops of banana.

Water level in Manarki Bund has been constantly increasing and cutting the protective Bund. The weaker parts of the Bund are being filled by stones.

Residents of the areas have built different protective dams to protect their crops, which are causing deviation in river flow. Staff of irrigation department has been watching sensitive spots of Minarki dam, KB dam, SM dam and Keti Bander through day and night.
