Major General Mian Nadeem Ijaz Ahmed was formally installed as the honorary Colonel of a Regiment of Armoured Corps at an impressive ceremony held here on Saturday, says an ISPR release.

The Colonel Commandant of Armoured Corps Lieutenant General Javed Alam Khan was the chief guest and he formally installed Major General Mian Nadeem Ijaz Ahmed as the first colonel of the regiment.

Corps Commander Peshawar Lieutenant General Muhammad Named Khan was also present on the occasion.

Addressing the ceremony, Lieutenant General Javed Alam Khan who is also Corps Commander Mangla, recalled the glorious past of the regiment and said that the unit had rendered commendable service in defending the frontiers land.

The chief guest advised the officers and Jawans of the regiment to excel in their profession and devote themselves to training and maintaining strict discipline with a view to further improve the overall efficiency of the regiment.

The newly installed Colonel of the Regiment, Major General Nadeem Ijaz who twice served in the unit, said it was a great honour for him to become the Colonel of the Regiment. He assured that he would take special interest in the welfare of the unit.

Earlier, Commanding Officer Lieutenant Colonel Atif Shafique in his welcome address threw light on the brief history and achievements of the unit. The installation ceremony was largely attended by the serving and retired officers, junior commissioned officers and Jawans of the regiment.
