She said that according to Shaheed Hakim Mohammad Said, Pakistan came into being on the blessed night of Al-Qadar on the 27th of Ramazan, 1366 Hijra, which is the Hijri equivalent of 14 August 1947.
This was not a mere coincidence but the will of Allah Almighty that this country be blessed and should grow as a moderate, enlightened and welfare Islamic state, according to ideals of Quaid-e-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah, so that it could become a role model for the entire Muslim Ummah.
It was, therefore, Hakim Said's wish that the 27th of Ramazan should be recognised as Independence Day and be celebrated as such, and also therefore as a day for giving thanks.
Mrs. Sadia Rashid said that October 8 earthquake caused misery and loss of lives, property and infrastructure to the people of northern Pakistan.
This is a cataclysmic event in Pakistan History. Hamdard Pakistan is sharing the national grief and the misery of the earthquake victims by applying its best efforts to provide medical services and relief to them, she added.
Mrs. Sadia said that the enthusiasm and spirit of unity and help to the affected people, the nation showed at this testing time and the spirit of humanitarianism and brotherhood expressed by the international community was really laudable.
In our prayers on the holy night of 27th Ramazan, we should pray specially for the solidarity and safety of our homeland from natural calamities such as earthquake and vow to rehabilitate the earthquake victims and to rebuild the destructed areas and to make these areas and the whole country strong and prosperous, she emphasised.
