The chief minister pointed out that the fear has been instilled in Sindh as far as corruption at the lower level is concerned, saying he has asked the Anti-Corruption Department to initiate a drive against corruption.
Dr Arbab Ghulam Rahim said that with the induction of honest people in the administration and by taking strict measures, the corrupt practice can be checked effectively.
He was of the view that a malpractice should be stopped at the time it is taking place in order to nip the evil in the bud. The chief minister said that when an action is initiated against corrupt practices after change in government it is often construed as 'victimisation.'
Replying a question, he said Sindh has excelled in extending assistance to the victims of the earthquake, adding: "We have also accorded permission for import of duty-free medicines for the quake victims. He asked the people to extend donations to reliable institutions and government agencies so that there could be no misuse.
The chief minister assured that in case of any complaints regarding misappropriation of donations or relief goods, strict action would be initiated.
