Earlier, the elected representatives on special seats also took the oath. Speaking on the occasion the new district Nazim pledged to banish backwardness from neglected far-off areas of Sialkot district.
Muhammad Akmal Cheema said that strenuous efforts would be made for converting Sialkot district into a model district of the Punjab. The newly elected Nazim told the house that extraordinary efforts would be made for generating resources of income aimed at minimising the problems of the masses of the district.
District returning officer Choudary Muhammad Aslam also addressed the ceremony. Provincial Labour and Human Resources Minister Syed Akhtar Hussain Rizvi, DCO Sialkot Shafqatur Ranjha, and other high-ranking officers attended the oath-taking ceremony. On this occasion special prayer was offered for early recovery and rehabilitation of the earthquake victims.
