The work on the construction of 278 km long Sindh Coastal Highway will be initiated by the National Highway Authority soon with funding to be provided by Federal Government, it was reliably learnt.

The feasibility report for the construction of highway was sponsored by Sindh Coastal Development Authority and prepared by Works and Services Department Sindh at a cost of Rs 8.120 million.

The highway has been aligned from Karachi to Keti Bandar via Bhambhore, Keti Bandar to Shah Bandar via Dandheri and Shah Bandar to Ali Bandar.

According to sources, total cost of the project is Rs 3,053.116 million - Rs 12 million per km, with 5.5-meter pavement. The recurrence expenditure will be around Rs 45.7 million.

Defence Authorities have issued NOC for the Coastal Highway and shall connect creeks like Dubbo, Wadh Khudi, Phitti, Jhari, Chan Waddo, Jharkan, Dampora, Hajamro Tursian, Khojar, Sir, Bhori, Sisa, Kharak, Paitiani, Gizri and Korangi Creek.
