Twelve international and national scholars will present their papers in the first-ever 3-day International Moot on Contemporary American Literature commencing here in National University of Modern Languages (NUML) from Thursday (September 1st) in its IT auditorium, says a press release issued here.

This conference will initiate a new forum and direction in terms of providing platform for dissemination of knowledge and culture not easily accessible to a cross section of academics in Pakistan, the release added.

The theme of the conference is "Changing Directions and Emerging Trends in American Literature."

The conference has been planned by the NUML while US Embassy in Pakistan, Ministry of Education and Higher Education Commission are extending their full support in organising the event.

The foreign scholars who will present their papers are Professor Lu Wei, Professor Zhang Baojun and Dr Nanna Jane Opoku from China, Dr E V Ramakrishnan, Dr Dharamdas M Schenda from India and Dr Nayaf A Al Joulan form Jordan and Dr Geeta Khadka from Nepal. Besides, the Ambassador of Syria in Pakistan Riad Ismat will also be one of the presenters.

The Pakistani scholars who will speak in the moot include Dr Saeeda Asadullah Khan and Dr Rubina Kamran both from NUML while Dr Waseem Anwar and Dr Farhan Ebadat Yar Khan from Govt College University Lahore.

In addition, a US academic will hold a Digital videoconference direct from America in the inaugural session of the meeting on Thursday.-PR
