Chicago Board of Trade soft red winter wheat futures fell on Monday, with the front four months notching contract lows on technical selling amid ample global supplies and a lack of supportive news, traders said. The front five K.C. hard red winter wheat futures contracts also hit contract lows.

CBOT December wheat settled down 5-1/2 cents at $4.37 per bushel after setting a contract low at $4.35-1/2. K.C. December hard red winter wheat ended down 6-1/2 cents at $4.35-3/4 a bushel and MGEX December spring wheat fell 13-1/2 cents at $6.69. Ahead of the US Department of Agriculture's weekly crop progress report due later on Monday, analysts surveyed by Reuters expected the government to show the US spring wheat harvest as 57 percent complete by Sunday, up from 40 percent a week earlier.
