Pakistan Coast Guards (PCG) on Tuesday claimed to have seized some 725kg of fine quality hashish and 1490kg of betel nuts worth Rs 37 million in two separate raids from Gwadar, Balochistan province. The PCG spokesman said that on the special instructions of DG Pakistan Coast Guards Brigadier Sajjad Sikandar Ranjha SI(M), the PCG has intensified its efforts to curb the menace of drug trafficking from its area of responsibility.

PCG officials received credible information from intelligence sources about the smuggling of drugs. During checking at Marine Drive Gwadar, PCG officials spotted a suspicious vehicle. On searching the vehicle, the officials recovered approx 725kg of fine quality of hashish hidden in secret places of vehicle and also recovered 226 grams Crystal from car which was hidden in secret cavity.

In another operation, 1490 kilograms of betel nuts have been recovered from passenger coach at Shahjahan Road Check. PCG officials also apprehended 08 Pakistani illegal immigrants on account of illegal border crossing. The individuals were proceeding to Iran without passport. Approx value of the drug in the international market is $ 5809 (Rs 37 million). Further investigation and legal process is under way.
