The Businessmen Panel for FPCCI has urged the Directorate General of Trade Organization (DGTO) to update the fresh list of valid trade bodies through official website before the announcement of FPCCI elections schedule. Central Spokesperson and Secretary General (Federal) of BMP, Ahmad Jawad said that currently the website of the regulator is unavailable. "We cannot find the exact information of the trade bodies," he added.

The FPCCI election schedule for 2020 term will be announced in the first week of next month, and it is vital to get the latest information status regarding trade bodies (list wise) available on the website of the DGTO on priority basis so that transparency may prevail, he said. Jawad also said the in the latest paradigm shift of the taxation, the role of FPCCI is of a silent spectator, as the FPCCI incumbent management is least bothered to play its role due to incompetent and visionless leadership of the United Business Group (UBG) that has constantly declined the role and image of the apex trade body during the last few years.

"Business community believes that FPCCI is mother of the Pakistan business community and it should lead from the front but it doesn't which is a dangerous indicator for the private sector of this country," he said. He, however, urged the Finance Ministry to lift the condition of the CNIC for a period of few months more, so that businesses can get some breathing space in the ongoing volatile situation of the industry and traders.

Currently uncertainty is at glance in the business community and the worst sufferer is a normal worker, he said, adding it will slowly go to the new level of the unemployment if the situation is not addressed timely. Similarly, the government should fulfill the promises made with the business community regarding classification of traders in A, B and C categories and impose fixed tax of Rs 5,000, Rs 10,000, Rs 20,000 and Rs 40,000 which would help government achieve revenue collection target.

Jawad further said the FBR has not yet taken the CNIC issue seriously and has not taken any decision. The BMP official requested the government to take business friendly decisions to facilitate the business community.
