Speaking at a press conference at Peshawar Press Club here, PDA office-bearers said that Dr Noor Hanan had been kidnapped by unidentified gunmen while he was on duty at Wana area but the government was yet to take serious action for his recovery.
The PDA representatives including Dr Abdul Wahid Pashteen, Dr Sajjad Yousufzai, Dr Yasir Khan, Dr Mehboob, Dr Osama said that government was adopting policies for transfer on the basis of domiciles and district health authority plan but it was least bothered to ensure doctors' safety first.
"We will soon call a meeting of the PDA's executive council to review government's seriousness in tracking down our senior college and bringing the kidnappers to justice, he said. In the same meeting a decision will be taken, PDA's leaders said.
The prevalent situation of insecurity is harming patients' care as medics aren't safe at their duty places.. We have been demanding complete security to health professionals at the hospitals to enable them to perform their duties fearlessly, they said.
They said that the doctors were feeling insecure and were not ready to perform duties in the far flung areas, saying that the government should stop sending the medics on basis of domicile as this practice could worsen problems for the community.
The doctors urged the government to enact security bill for protection of the doctors so that they could perform their duties wholeheartedly.
Sharing further details on the occasion a local doctor Zain-ul-Abideen Wazir said that the community people had been protesting and set up a camp against the kidnapping of Dr Noor Hanan but none of the provincial government's officials bothered to visit them.
