The provincial assembly of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa will resume its proceedings after a break of ten days with a heavy legislative agenda of three bills here today (Monday). The legislative bills included in the agenda for the day are included tabling of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Tourism Bill, 2019, KP Succession (Amendment) Bill, 2019 and KP Legal Aid Bill, 2019 respectively.

The objective of the KP Tourism Bill, 2019 is to establish a legal framework for the development, standard sitting, promotion management and marketing of cultural heritage and sustainable tourism in the province.

Under the proposed legislative act, the provincial government is going to establish a Provincial Tourism Strategy Board (PTSB) with Chief Minister as its chairman while members will be included the Minister for Sports, Tourism, Culture, Archaeology & Youth Affairs and Minister for Environment and Wildlife, Secretary Sports, Tourism, Culture & Archaeology and Secretary Environment & Wildlife.

Three private professionals, having at least ten years experience of tourism, culture & culture heritage will also be appointed as members of the board. At least one of the private professionals will be woman.

The board on the advice of the Tourism Authority, to be established under the proposed act, will recommend provincial tourism strategy, at least once after every five years.

Similarly, the board will also assess the impact of any development initiative or project initiated by public or private sector, and issue guidelines to bring such development initiative or project in line with the provincial tourism strategy guidelines, so issued will be binding on any public or private entity undertaken such initiative or project.

Under the second legislation KP Succession (Amendment) Bill, the provincial government is going to amend Succession Act, 1925 by inserting a new clause 371A that is titled 'Issuance of Letters of Administration and Succession Certificate by National Data Base Registration Authority (NADRA).

Under the proposed amendment in the Act, the National Database Registration Authority (NADRA) in accordance with family registration certificate maintained by it, may issue letters of administration and succession certificate to the legal heirs of a deceased, in accordance with procedure as may be provided in the NADRA Ordinance, 2000 (Ordinance No.VIII of 2000) and rules made thereafter and any such letters of administration and succession certificate issued by NADRA shall be deemed to be issued under the provision of this Act.

The amendment in the Succession Act, 1925 has been proposed in light of federal government instructions, which is supported by the government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

The third legislative agenda of the day, the tabling of KP Legal Aid Bill, 2019 in the provincial assembly to pave way for the establishment and maintaining of a legal aid agency in the province to provide legal aid to the indigent persons.

Meanwhile, a PTI affiliated woman MPA Dr Asiya Asad will move a privilege motion against the adoption of irresponsible attitude of the Deputy Dean, Gomal Medical College, D.I. Khan during a meeting of the Standing Committee on Health. She will request the house for the referral of the matter to the privilege committee of the house to initiate disciplinary action against the concerned officer.

Furthermore, Samar Bilour, an ANP affiliated woman legislator elected on general seat will seek progress on the implementation of the 4 percent job quota for the special persons.
