The Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar soon after his return from Saudi Arabia after performing Umrah chaired a high-level meeting at the Lahore Airport soon in which IG Police presented the progress made in the Chunian murder case. Expressing his strong displeasure over the horrific murders of the children, the CM said that this tragic incident would have been avoided if the recovery of the children was made in a scientific manner. "It is a very sad moment for the bereaved families. God forbids, what would happen, if this incident occurs with our children," he questioned.

The Chief Minister made it clear that those failing to perform would go home. "I would not tolerate any inefficient officer or an official and strict accountability of negligent and inefficient would be conducted," he said. He said the system of special branch will have to be further strengthened and streamlined and there is a need to work on an emergent basis to improve the police performance.

The Chief Minister directed to depute additional staff in Chunian and ordered to arrest the criminals involved in the murder of children. Such tragic incidents could never be tolerated and provision of justice to the bereaved families will be ensured at every cost, he said.

Usman Buzdar said that the criminals will not escape their exemplary punishment adding that they do not deserve any leniency. A high-level JIT has been constituted to investigate this incident and requirements of justice would be fulfilled.

Provincial Ministers Muhammad Basharat Raja, Hashim Dogar, Sardar Asif Nakai, Ansar Majeed Khan, Chief Secretary, IG Police, ACS, ACS (home), Secretary Information and others attended the meeting.

Moreover, the Chief Minister in his message on 'International Day of Peace' said that global peace is in danger due to the fanatic approach. The people living in Indian Occupied Kashmir, Palestine and other areas of the world are longing for peace, he said.

He said that the international community should take practical steps to stop human rights violations in IOK. "Pakistan is a peace-loving country and Pakistanis are well aware of the importance of peace because it is directly linked with development and prosperity," he said, adding: "Pakistan is heralding the efforts of maintaining peace and harmony."
