Sindh High Court (SHC) on Friday ordered to stop release of salaries of all government employees, who went missing. A division bench of SHC headed by Justice K K Agha issued the order while hearing the petition about the disappearance of a person namely Mahmood Ali. The Missing Persons Commission had ordered for release of salaries to several government employees, whose whereabouts are not known.

Court questioned the order of commission to release the salaries of the missing employees and inquired about the laws under which these salaries are being released. Commission's representative told the court that release of salaries of the missing employees is being made on humanitarian grounds, at which court ruled that commission has no authority to release the salary of any government employee, who went missing.

Court ruled that recommendations should be sent to high court if commission found it necessary to release the salary of any missing employee. Court also ordered Chairman Missing Persons Commission to furnish the details about the release of salaries to the missing employees of government so far. Court also ruled that salary of any missing government employee can't be released until his legal custody is not proved. Court observed that any government employee can hide to avoid the arrest in the case of any crime. Court also ordered Chairman Karachi Port Trust (KPT) to stop salary of Mahmood Ali, an employee of KPT, who went missing.
