BRIndex30 decreased by 234.69 points or 1.33 percent to close at 17,399.28 points with a turnover of 63.124 million shares.
The KSE-100 Index declined by 353.45 points or 1.11 percent to close at 31,555.47 points. Trading activity remained thin as daily volumes on the ready counter decreased to 99.363 million shares as compared to 122.012 million shares traded Tuesday.
The market capitalization declined by Rs 54 billion to Rs 6.327 trillion. Out of total 356 active scrips, 230 closed in negative, 101 in positive while the value of 25 stocks remained unchanged.
WorldCall Telecom was the volume leader with 10.331 million shares. It gained Re 0.03 to close at Rs 1.01 followed by Pak Elektron that lost Re 0.25 to close at Rs 16.56 with 8.528 million shares. Colgate Palmolive and Bhanero Textile were the top gainers with Rs 49.67 and Rs 39.05, respectively to close at Rs 2,199.00 and Rs 820.11. Bata Pak and Sapphire Fiber were the top losers with Rs 60.00 and Rs 37.94, respectively to close at Rs 1,200.00 and Rs 720.94.
BR Automobile Assembler Index lost 6.05 points or 0.13 percent to close at 4,789.03 points with total turnover of 1.282 million shares.
BR Cement Index decreased by 61.26 points or 2.25 percent to close at 2,657.42 points with 12.238 million shares.
BR Commercial Banks Index declined by 82.12 points or 1.07 percent to close at 7,602.16 points with 6.125 million shares.
BR Power Generation and Distribution Index fell by 56.23 points or 1.28 percent to close at 4,333.76 points with 10.103 million shares.
BR Oil and Gas Index plunged by 74.67 points or 2.05 percent to close at 3,570.29 points with 17.879 million shares.
BR Tech. & Comm. Index closed at 654.36 points, down 4.37 points or 0.66 percent with 13.869 million shares.
An analyst at Topline Securities said that the KSE-100 Index nosedived as it lost 353 points/1.1 percent, which is highest decline of this month to close at 31,555 level amid lack of any positive triggers.
International oil prices were down by 5.0 percent putting pressure on E&P sector companies. All main E&P scrips closed negatively in range of (1-4 percent) as profit taking from previous session continued. Negative sentiments were witnessed across the board.
