Tokyo Commodity Exchange (TOCOM) futures fell on Tuesday due to fears over a slowing global economy amid renewed Sino-US tension. The benchmark TOCOM rubber contract for February delivery finished 0.8 yen ($0.0076) lower at 162.1 yen per kg. The most-active rubber contract on the Shanghai futures exchange for January delivery rose 140 yuan ($19.74) to finish at 11,935 yuan per tonne. China's new technically specified rubber (TSR) 20 futures contract was last up 60 yuan at 10,135 yuan per tonne.

TOCOM's TSR 20 futures contract for March delivery closed at 141 yen per kg. The front-month rubber contract on Singapore's SICOM exchange for October delivery last traded at 130.9 US cents per kg, up 0.9%. China has lodged a complaint against the United States at the World Trade Organization over US import duties, the Chinese Commerce Ministry said on Monday. The US dollar was quoted around 106.03 yen, compared with around 106.21 yen on Monday afternoon.
