The Lahore High Court on Monday granted protective bail to one Muhammad Hassaan of Nankana, who contracted marriage with a Sikh girl Jagjeet Kaur till September 07. The court directed the petitioner to approach relevant court in district Nankana Sahib for the relief of pre-arrest bail. The petitioner through his counsel contended before the court that Kaur contracted marriage with the petitioner on her free will.

He said Kaur embraced Islam without any coercion and was given Muslim name Ayesha. He said the bride had denied the charges of abduction and forced conversion to Islam in her statement recorded before a judicial magistrate.
