Adviser to the Prime Minister on Finance and Revenue, Dr Abdul Hafeez Shaikh said on Monday that the government has decided to immediately pay Rs 22 billion of verified sales tax refunds for past years. According to a tweet of Hafeez Shaikh on Monday, "Important Decision by the Government on Tax Refunds for the promotion of economic activity in the country and to provide liquidity support to businesses.

1) Rs 22 billion of verified sales tax refunds for all years to be released immediately. 2) Rs 1.7 billion of income tax refunds (upto Rs 1 Lakh) for all years to be released immediately. 3) The verification process for other outstanding refunds to be expedited. 4) Income tax refunds between Rs 1 lakhs to Rs 5 lakhs for all years will be paid next month" tweet added.
