The Karachi Port handled 132,628 tonnes of cargo comprising 83,705 tonnes of import cargo and 48,923 tonnes of export cargo including 8,508 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Wednesday. The total import cargos of 83,705 tonnes comprised of 51,736 tonnes of containerised cargo; 21,375 tonnes of bulk cargo and 10,594 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

The total export cargos of 48,923 tonnes comprised of 48,923 tonnes of containerised cargo. As many as 8,508 containers comprising of 3,813 containers import and 4,695 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Wednesday.

The breakup of imported containers shows 1,204 of 20's and 1,202 of 40's loaded while 01 of 20's and 102 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 1,165 of 20's and 899 of 40's loaded containers while 308 of 20's and 712 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.

There were six ships namely KMTC Mumbai, Berlin Express, Wehr Schulau, Sea King, Maersk Princess and Marianne Danica carrying containers, oil tanker, mogas and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.

There were nine vessels viz. YM Excellence, Wan Hai-611, TSM Pollux, Atticus, Mandala, Asian Prominence, Marianne Danica and Da Tong Yun carrying containers, oil tankers and general cargo respectively currently at the berths.

PORT QASIM
A cargo volume of 247,920 tonnes comprising 232,526 tonnes of import cargo and 15,394 tonnes of export cargo including 3,069 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Wednesday.

The total import cargo of 232,526 tonnes includes 56,878 tonnes of diesel oil; 8,930 tonnes of palm oil; 52,700 tonnes of LNG; 108 tonnes of LPG; 59,154 tonnes of coal; 1,556 tonnes of prpject cargo and 53,200 tonnes of containerised cargo. The total export cargo of 15,394 tonnes includes 10,283 tonnes of cement 5,111 tonnes of containerised cargo.

As many as 3,069 containers comprising of 2,800 containers import and 269 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Wednesday. There was one ship namely SBI Taurus carrying coal sailed out to sea on Wednesday morning, while two more ships namely Yamillah-III and BTS Sabina carrying diesel oil and palm oil respectively are expected to sail on the same day afternoon.

A total number of ten vessels were occupied berths to load/offload containers, coal, cement, canola seeds, diesel oil and palm oil respectively at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

As many as ten vessels viz. Han He, Secon-6, Indian Goodwill, Leo Ocean, SBI Perseus, STH Montreal, Torm Vencore, Maersk Princess, Rhona and Kmarin Oslo carrying general cargo, steel coil, soyabean, coal, diesel oil and palm oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

There were four ships viz. Los Angles Trader, SBI Perseus, Indian Goodwill and Rhona carrying containers, coal, soyabean and palm oil expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Pakistan International Bulk Terminal, Grains and Furtilizer Terminal and Liquid Cargo Terminal respectively on Wednesday. There was one ship namely Los Angles Trader carrying containers due to arrive on Wednesday.
