The Monitoring Committee constituted by the Supreme Court of Pakistan headed by the convener Riaz Ahmed Siddiqui and comprising of District & Sessions Judge Tharparkar Mushtaque Ahmed Kalwar, Divisional Commissioner Mirpurkhas Abdul Waheed Shaikh, Dr Sono Khanghrani, Deputy Commissioner Tharparkar Dr Shehzad Tahir Thaheem and other departments officers concerned held a meeting at Darbar Hall Mithi. The meeting in detail discussed and reviewed matters of health, education, drinking water, forest, road infrastructure in Thar.

The convener of the monitoring committee Riaz Ahmed Siddiqui said, "We are well aware of the Thar situation and trying to improve and provide the basic facilities to the people of Tharparkar District regarding the health, education, drinking water and other social and economic sectors which is the fundamental rights of the people of Thar that is why I personally came here and is conducting meeting with concerned departments and district administration."

He directed the District Health Officer Tharparkar to provide all basic health facilities to the people and medicines at free of cost and in this regard no negligence will be tolerated. He also directed the XEN Public Health Engineering Department Tharparkar to take all steps for providing drinking water to the people of far-flung areas by the installing RO plants and water supply lines.

The committee members directed the conservator of forest Department Tharparkar to vacate the forest land as soon as possible so that the vacant forest land with the rainy water could be irrigated for producing seasonal vegetables and fodder for animals. The committee members also directed the XEN highway to maintain and repair the dilapidated roads of the district specially Islamkot to Nagarparkar main road and detailed report would be submitted to the committee in this regard.
