The federal government has nominated former PTV MD Arshad Khan as the Chairman of Boards of Directors of Pakistan Television Corporation (PTVC). The Board of Directors has been asked to elect Arshad Khan as Chairman PTVC in line with PTVC's Memorandum and Articles of Association (Article-95), according to a notification.

Arshad Khan's impressive career record shows, among other things, that having worked with both, media & telecom organisations, he had provided a unique opportunity to understand the issues & challenges that lie ahead relating to service delivery and regulatory framework in the wake of convergence of media, telecom & information technologies.

He has over 30 years of experience working with National, Multinational and Public Sector Organizations holding Board level and key Management positions. Responsibilities included strategic planning & management, policy & strategy formulation, organizational restructuring, commercial & technical operations, telecom & electronic media operations and handling telecom & media policy & regulatory matters.

His key achievements include establishing a new cellular venture Ufone literally from scratch and successfully running its operations as its Chief Executive. Ufone not only deployed state of the art cellular network & allied systems but also achieved unprecedented marketing & financial results. It truly played the role of a catalyst in the growth of cellular industry of Pakistan. Ufone introduced technologies like WAP & GPRS (2.5G) for the first time in Pakistan in 2001/02, which laid the foundation for mobile internet/data services and prompted the potential for wireless broadband technologies like Wimax/3G/4G/ LTE in the country. He also turned around/ transformed large public sector organizations like Pakistan Television as its Managing Director twice and Pakistan Post as its Chairman & Director General. He is a recipient of Sitara-e-Imtiaz conferred on him by President of Pakistan in 2005.
