The Karachi Port handled 139,569 tonnes of cargo comprising 102,117 tonnes of import cargo and 37,452 tonnes of export cargo including 5,390 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Friday. The total import cargos of 102,117 tonnes comprised of 40,231 tonnes of containerised cargo; 8,651 tonnes of bulk cargo; 1,735 tonnes of canola and 51,500 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

The total export cargos of 37,452 tonnes comprised of 12,353 tonnes of containerised cargo; 11,100 tonnes of clinkers; 1,999 tonnes of wheat and 12,000 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. As many as 5,390 containers comprising of 2,696 containers import and 2,694 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Friday. The breakup of imported containers shows 898 of 20's and 894 of 40's loaded while nil of 20's and 05 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 236 of 20's and 201 of 40's loaded containers while 346 of 20's and 855 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.

There were four ships namely Maersk Salina, YM Bamboo, APL Le Havre, and Rebecca Schulte carrying containers and chemical respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period. There were four vessels viz. los Angles Trader, Cosco Thailand, Al Safa and Ocean Success carrying containers, oil tanker and general cargo respectively currently at the berths.

PORT QASIM


A cargo volume of 204,617 tonnes comprising 181,247 tonnes of import cargo and 23,370 tonnes of export cargo including 2,658 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Friday.

The total import cargo of 181,247 tonnes includes 68,750 tonnes of LNG; 4,500 tonnes of palm oil; 56,235 tonnes of coal; 4,740 tonnes of soyabean seeds; 4,785 tonnes of chemical; 12,639 tonnes of mogas; 2,466 tonnes of general cargo and 27,132 tonnes of containerised cargo.

The total export cargo of 23,370 tonnes includes 23,370 tonnes of containerised cargo.

As many as 2,658 containers comprising of 1,428 containers import and 1,230 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Friday.

There were three ships namely CMA CGM Al-Maviva, Lian Hua Song and Argent Iris carrying containers, general cargo and palm oil respectively sailed out to sea on Friday morning, while four more ships namely Maersk Bentonville, El-Babe, Bunga Laurel and Maistros carrying containers, coal, chemical and diesel oil respectively are expected to sail on the same day afternoon.

A total number of twelve vessels were occupied berths to load/offload containers, general cargo, coal, soyabean seeds, chemical, diesel oil and palm oil respectively at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

As many as eight vessels viz. Maersk Salina, Ceylon Breeze, Vassos, Kiran America, Basch Hoek, Aeriko, Tagea and Al-Salam-II respectively carrying containers, soyabean, coal and diesel oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

There were four vessels viz. Maersk Salina, Kiran America, Tagea and Al-Salam-II carrying containers, coal and diesel oil respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Pakistan International Bulk Terminal and FOTCO Oil Terminal respectively on Friday. There are two ships namely Safmarine Nyassa and Diyala carrying containers due to arrive on Saturday.
