Federal Board of Revenue's Officers Association (Inland Revenue Service) said that the process of consultation among the association's members is underway and any decision to challenge the appointment of new FBR chairman may be taken after the issuance of the formal notification of the new chairman.

In an exclusive chat with Business Recorder a member of the officers association, on condition of anonymity, stated that so far the association has not taken any final decision in this regard.

Tax officials of the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) raised two objections in their meeting on May 7, with Prime Minister's Advisor on Establishment Division, Dr Shezad Arbab on the appointment of Shabbar Zaidi as new Chairman FBR: conflict of interest and judgment of Islamabad High Court (IHC) in case of former chairman FBR Ali Arshad Hakeem.
